We’re a family of four, a mum, a dad and two kids five years apart, located in the Copenhagen area, Denmark.

Both parents have camped, biked, hiked, caravan camped, canoed etc. since we were kids. Biking specifically is closely woven into the Danish DNA, and is a part of our everyday life in the city.

I – the mum of the family – began hiking without adults at the age of 15 as a part of a school project back in the aughts.

Together as couple we’ve camped on primitive camp spots (more on those later), festivals, went kayaking together and even built a raft in Sweden when I was 8 weeks pregnant with our first child, but primarily did outdoor activities in Denmark.

We’ve camped with both of the kids since they were babies – the first came along on the first tenting trip at 4 months and the second at 8 months.

Camping, backpacking specifically, has been my absolute go-to type of vacation, and while it’s become trickier with two kids, I see no reason to pause it now.
